Rehearsal and Costume Fitting: Washington Crossing Historic Park, 1112 River Rd., Washington Crossing, NJ 18977, on Saturday, June 17th. Time TBD.
Seeking 5 male and 2 female non-Equity actors to join a concert presentation of The Crossing, A Revolutionary New Musical. All ethnicities are encouraged to submit for any role except Jacob Francis, a black male. Each role involves singing several songs and some brief introductory narration. Auditions will be held in two rounds via video submission:
Roles:
George Washington: Confident commander-in-chief of the Continental Army: Male Tenor,plays fortyish, (Vocal range: G2 - G4)
Thomas Paine: A fiery and charismatic writer, he helps rally the colonists to the cause of independence: Male Tenor, plays fortyish, Tenor (Vocal range: G2 - G4)
Jacob Francis: free black man who joins the Continental Army after paying off a ten year indenture: Male Tenor, twenties, (Vocal range: G2 - G4)
James: a male farmer inspired by the writings of Thomas Paine, joins the cause but loses heart after the battle of Harlem Heights: twenties, tenor (Vocal range: G2 - G4)
Enoch: male farmer, early 20s, a bit naive but likable, likes to paint landscapes: Tenor (Vocal range: G2 - G4)
Gabriel: Age 16, a good-natured, enthusiastic patriot: Tenor (Vocal range: G2 - G4)
Margaret Corbin/Elizabeth: Two strong Colonial Women, late twenties, early thirties. Margaret takes over her husband’s cannon after he falls in battle. Elizabeth operates a printing press in her husband’s absence. Soprano/Mezzo (Vocal Range: A3 to A5)
Abigail: Young (late teens/early twenties) spirited colonial woman and patriot: Alto/Mezzo: Vocal Range: (G5 to G5)
Round 1 - Auditions: Please send headshot and resume, and a video of 16 bars to 2 minutes of a song in contemporary musical theatre style in mp3 format to: john@thecrossingmusical.com by Saturday, May 27th
Round 2 - Callbacks: We will invite selected candidates to submit a video of singing to a provided track mix of a song from the show. (Smartphone recording is fine. Play the track through any playback device and record yourself on your smartphone.)
Compensation: $250
